MACMASTERS BEACH LADIES SOCIAL AND FUNDRAISING CLUB

As at 2023, the Ladies Social Club has had its final year in operation. 81 years – quite a feat. A great big thank you to all of the club’s members and participants for all of their incredible work in the community over this time.

Please visit the display cabinet inside the MacMasters surf club to view photos and other memoribilia and information from their great history.

Our History
Our unique club began in 1941 when a group of young mothers living in MacMasters Beach banded together to support each other both emotionally and physically, as it was a very isolated community at that time.  There was no electricity, telephone or sewerage, nor were the roads tarred…life was hard and lonely.  Initially they met in each other’s homes to knit items to contribute to Red Cross parcels for the menfolk who were overseas

Over the years the club has become an integral part of the MacMasters Beach community promoting friendship and fellowship.

Today
Although still quite small and personal, the Club has adapted to meet the shifting needs of its members and the broader community.   Now in its 80th year the Club continues to provide a warm and supportive environment where members socialise, listen to guest speakers, share ideas and discuss issues, and talk and laugh over a cup of tea.  Occasionally we go out for lunch or to an interesting venue.

Whilst we are having fun, we have never forgotten our roots, and we fund raise for local organisations such as the Surf Club, the Rural Fire Brigade, MacMasters Beach Bushcare, Shirley Shuttle Cancer Patient Transport, the Kincumber High School Brekkie Club, and the Central Coast Shelter.

For many years our members participated in the ‘Wrap with Love’ project, and we knitted poppies for the 100 years commemoration of World War 1. Each year, on Melbourne Cup Day, the Club hosts a very popular luncheon at the Surf Club. We hold a Sausage Sizzle for the Nippers at the annual carols concert at the MacMasters Beach Surf Club.  From time to time the Club organizes special events, such the Italian Evening and Singalong and the Orchid Morning Tea, to raise extra funds for our charities.

We welcome members from local suburbs such as Kincumber, Saratoga, Davistown, Forresters Beach and Woy Woy. And look forward to welcoming more….
